1. Who we are
invest-madeira.com is run by Invest Madeira, with registered office at Rua Imperatriz Dona Amélia 1B, Galerias Savoy, Fração H, 9000-018 Funchal, Madeira — Portugal ("Invest Madeira", "we"). You can contact us at investmadeira@madeira.gov.pt.
2. Accepting these terms
By using the site you accept these terms. To create an account in the members' area you are asked to expressly accept the terms and the Privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use the site.
3. What the site offers
Public information about investing in Madeira, news, fairs and events; tax and salary calculators; the "Cost of doing business in Madeira" report; a contact form; and a members' area for approved members, with documents and additional services.
All services on the site are free of charge. We may add, change or withdraw content and features at any time.
4. Member accounts
Accounts are for professionals, investors and company representatives aged 18 or over. You agree to give true and up-to-date information, to use the account only in your own name and to keep your password confidential.
You can sign in with email and password or with your Google or Apple account; in that case those services' terms also apply. Tell us straight away if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.
5. Approval, suspension and closure
Access to restricted information depends on approval by the Invest Madeira team, which assesses each request in line with the agency's mission and may refuse it without having to give reasons.
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, uses the site abusively or contains false information, informing the holder whenever possible. You can delete your account at any time under "My account → Privacy".
6. Acceptable use
You may not use the site for unlawful purposes; extract content or data automatically (scraping) without written permission; test, bypass or overload the security measures; access accounts or areas you are not entitled to; upload or send malicious software; impersonate another person or organisation; or send bulk or unsolicited messages through the forms.
If you find a security vulnerability, report it to investmadeira@madeira.gov.pt without exploiting it or making it public.
7. Calculators, reports and information
The calculators and the cost report give indicative figures for a first analysis, based on public rates, averages and estimates for a given year. They are not tax, legal, financial or investment advice, nor a decision, binding information or promise by any public body.
Tax benefits, including those of the Madeira Free Trade Zone, depend on legal requirements and on licensing by the competent bodies. Laws and rates change; always confirm your case with qualified advisers and the competent authorities before making decisions. Currency conversions use European Central Bank reference rates and are only indicative.
We aim to keep the information on the site correct and up to date, but we do not guarantee that it is complete or free of errors.
8. Documents for members
Documents in the members' area are for the approved member's own use, to assess investment opportunities in Madeira. They may not be shared, published or redistributed without Invest Madeira's written permission.
9. Intellectual property
The texts, images, videos, graphics, trade marks, logos and software of the site belong to Invest Madeira or to third parties who have authorised their use, and are protected by copyright and industrial property rights.
You may quote and share public content from the site for information and non-commercial purposes, provided you name the source and link to the original page. Any other use, including of photos, videos and trade marks, needs prior written permission.
10. Links to other sites
The site links to third-party sites (for example public bodies, fair organisers, YouTube or social networks). We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
11. Availability
We try to keep the site available and secure, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may interrupt the site, in whole or in part, for maintenance, security or reasons beyond our control.
12. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, Invest Madeira is not liable for loss or damage arising from decisions based on the calculators, the report or other information on the site, nor for interruptions, errors or third-party content.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, in particular for wilful misconduct or gross negligence, nor the rights the law gives consumers.
13. Data protection
How we process your personal data is described in the Privacy policy and the Cookie policy, which form part of these terms.
14. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. The date of the last update is at the top of the page. Significant changes are notified to members by email at least 15 days in advance; if you keep using the account after that, you are taken to accept them. If you do not agree, you can delete the account.
15. Governing law and courts
These terms are governed by Portuguese law. The courts of the Madeira judicial district have jurisdiction over any dispute, without prejudice to mandatory rules, in particular those protecting consumers in their country of residence.
If any provision of these terms is held invalid, the others remain in force.
